Our priorities

Liverpool Primary Care Trust's vision is to achieve challenging improvements in health and health services, and significant reductions in health inequalities in Liverpool.

In 2008 we published our Strategic Plan for 2008 - 2011. The document: A New Health Service for Liverpool set out eight priorities for the next three years:

  • Improving health
  • Improving understanding of self care and how to access NHS services
  • Gold standard primary and community services
  • Gold standard hospitals
  • End of life services
  • Personalised care
  • An end to waiting
  • Joined up services

Our priorities are ambitious in scope and represent a continuation of the work done in recent years to improve health services and levels of health and wellbeing that people in Liverpool have a right to expect.

Our intentions for safe, appropriate, informed, equitable and integrated care have remained constant and are compatible with the 2005 commissioning statement Achieving World Class Health by 2015. Our new priorities provide clarity about how to make this happen; the partnerships to be developed; the skills required; and the opportunities to be seized to deliver these objectives.
