Performance
Liverpool Primary Care Trust (PCT) is accountable to the Department of Health for an extensive set of performance targets that aim to improve the accessibility, quality and efficiency of health services in the city.
The achievement of all performance targets is one of our core strategic objectives. We have a number of stringent performance management and reporting arrangements in place to ensure targets receive the degree of attention they deserve.
Care Quality Commission
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. The annual CQC performance rating is a comprehensive assessment of the performance of NHS trusts, examining a wide range of areas, from the overall quality of care - including safety of patients, cleanliness and waiting times - to how health commissioners commission services to improve heath and how trusts manage their finances.
Current performance
During 2010-11 Liverpool PCT continued to commission for quality and productivity improvements such as the further reduction in healthcare associated infections and maintaining access to services with timeliness of diagnosis and treatment.
To ensure that we are delivering an excellent service, we are assessed by the Department of Health against nationally set targets called ‘Vital Signs’. They set out standards in a number of different areas including stroke, healthcare acquired infections and immunisation.
The Vital Signs report for Liverpool PCT shows our performance compared to national and regional averages:
