Workforce data

In this time of change it is important that we continue to regard equality, diversity and human rights (EDHR) as a core requirement with regard to how we treat our employees, service users and partners.

There have been many changes within the health service over the last few months and these are yet to be completed. We have also seen the introduction and incremental implementation of the Equality Act 2010, the purpose of which is to develop a more streamlined approach to equality law.

As required by the Public Duty we publish our workforce data (see below) and will be producing an objective-based action plan from April 2012.

There have been a number of new requirements such as “equality analysis” and an extended list of “protected characteristics” has been identified to protect individuals and groups from discrimination and disadvantage.

NHS Knowsley has developed the Easy Guide to the Equality Act: Commissioning Cycle and shared this other PCTs in the Merseyside Cluster.

We have been able to build on our past work and continue to promote and expand our practice within this important area. You can find up to date information by following the links below.

Single Equality Scheme and Action Plan

Our Single Equality Scheme identifies the baseline from which annual action plans have been developed and is current until 2012. The Equality Act does not require a Scheme and equality information for the Merseyside Cluster will be published in April 2012.

Equality Analysis

Equality Analysis has replaced equality Impact Assessment.

We are committed to ensuring that our commissioning systems address EDHR requirements - see the Easy Guide to the Equality Act: Commissioning Cycle for details.

Equality Act 2010 Workforce Data

The requirements of the Equality Act 2010 mean that public bodies, including NHS organisations, need to publish information to show that they are complying with the need to eliminate harassment, advance equal opportunities and foster good relations between different groups. Under the Act, the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) requires public sector bodies to publish workforce monitoring data.

As part of our commitment to equality and to meet the requirements of the Equality Act please follow the link below to view our current workforce data (the spreadsheet shows data for Merseyside Primary Care Trusts as a whole, and also individual figures for NHS Halton and St Helens, NHS Knowsley, Liverpool PCT and NHS Sefton – use the tabs on the bottom of the page to move between the different sets of information).
