Cycle for Health
The Cycle for Health project encourages
people in Liverpool to become physically active through cycling. Cycling is a healthy mode of transport so we actively encourage our communities to swap their cars for a bike, especially for short journeys.
Cycle sessions
Cycle for Health also supports bespoke bike rides for organisations or community groups who want to lead bike rides specifically for their staff or clients. Equipment can be loaned and Cycle Leader training can be delivered (see contact details below).

- Walton Hall Park at Wednesday am
- Sefton Park at Thursday am
- Calderstones at Friday am
- Princes Park at Friday am
The scheme is set to expand to evening and weekend bike rides in the summer.
Additonal information
- Sessions are free
- Bikes/equipment is provided for free
- Cycle sessions are traffic free
- Cycle leaders lead participants on the bike ride
- Cycle tuition also available
- Sessions last for about one to two hours
- Participants have to book & reserve a bike, once attended their reservation carries over to the following week.
- Participants with their own bikes are welcome to join in
Disability cycling (Wheels for All)
Cycle for Health Liverpool can accommodate those with differing needs through its Wheels for All cycling program. We can provide specially adapted equipment such as hand cycles, tricycles and company cycles.
We can also offer leader training to carers/support staff to enable them to deliver cycling sessions for their clients, this is a free service.
Training opportunities
- Option to attend the one day Volunteer Cycle Leaders course.
- Option to attend four day National Standard Cycle Instructor.(support with cost)
- Option to attend a one day bike mechanic course
